The Oaks Supports Trees Across Raleigh Program

RALEIGH, NC – The Oaks at Fallon Park Donates $1,700 to Trees Across Raleigh

On behalf of The Oaks at Fallon Park, a new single-family-home neighborhood in Raleigh being developed by Grubb Ventures, owner Grubb Ventures agreed in May of 2008 to donate $100 to Trees Across Raleigh for every home sold. In the subsequent year 17 homes have been sold at The Oaks and a total of $1700 has been donated to the tree program.

Grubb worked closely with the surrounding neighborhood homeowners and the City of Raleigh on plans for The Oaks in order to create a unique and appealing new home neighborhood and at the same time honor the existing historic neighborhood.  The Grubb Ventures team made sure the new development would fit seamlessly into the surrounding Fallon Park neighborhood with its walkable streets, parks and mature trees.

Given the name of the development, it was fitting that The Oaks at Fallon Park was the first neighborhood development to be submitted under the city’s newly adopted Tree Conservation Plan in 2008. City officials worked closely with the Oaks’ team to identify the most desirable trees for conservation. At the same time Grubb Ventures also committed to planting more than 189 new street trees, an investment of more than $275,000, as part of The Oaks own tree renewal program.

“We are so pleased that seventeen new families have come to call The Oaks home during the past year,” says Grubb. “We believe that in addition to the many mature trees we have been able to conserve, the addition of native trees will increase property values, help save energy, provide sound buffers, and be a lasting benefit for The Oaks at Fallon Park and the surrounding neighborhood for many years to come.”

“We are so pleased to have the support of Grubb Ventures for Trees Across Raleigh,” says Gwinn Moss, president. Not only are they going above and beyond to preserve the old oak trees and plant trees for future generations at The Oaks at Fallon Park, they have also committed to making Raleigh a little greener in neighborhoods where the need is greater.”
